Latest Update
Hello again,

As anticipated we are in Level 4 for a further period to midnight Tuesday. The course and all facilities remain closed until further notice so please do not visit the club to play or practice whether in your bubble or not.

I will update further as advice comes to hand but in the meantime continue to putt on the carpet and replace your lawn divots.

Below is the latest communique from Golf NZ. In terms of course maintenance we will authorise staff to undertake only essential maintenance during L4 as per the guidelines. At this stage this only relates to some of the newly renovated grass areas and watering but we will closely monitor this in conjunction with Colin and his team.

Stay safe.

To: All Golf Clubs, Course and Facilities
CC: District Associations

Good afternoon all,

The Prime Minister has announced this afternoon that all of New Zealand will be at Alert Level 4 until at least 11.59pm on Tuesday 24 August.

At Alert Level 4, the implications for golf are as follows:

  1. All golf club facilities are to remain closed.
  2. All golf courses are to remain closed for the playing of golf.
  3. Only essential golf course maintenance can be undertaken.

The specific rules for Sport and Recreation at Alert Level 4 can viewed at this link: https://sportnz.org.nz/media/4140/play-active-recreation-and-sport-at-level-4-19-august-2021.pdf

Essential Turf Maintenance

At Alert Level 4, the Ministry for Primary Industries have confirmed that businesses are able to undertake any necessary work in any premises for minimum basic operations required to maintain the condition or value of the premises, or any plant, equipment, or goods in the premises: https://www.mpi.govt.nz/covid-19-information-and-advice/primary-sector-businesses-services-and-support-services/alert-level-4-businesses-and-services/

As per the guidelines when we were previously at Alert Level 4, we advise that:

Golf course maintenance at Alert Level 4 should be limited to essential work that is needed to avoid the degradation of turf or other key biological assets.

Where essential maintenance is undertaken, a golf course must:

  1. Minimise, or eliminate if possible, physical interactions among staff.
  2. Ensure appropriate health, hygiene and safety measures are in place.
  3. Restrict activity to only what is essential during the Alert Level 4 period.

Please note: the New Zealand Government may revise or update this guidance at any time. Any changes will be communicated immediately to all clubs.
